Crazy Town Frontman Shifty Shellshock Dies at 49

Rap-Rock Star Known for Hit Song "Butterfly"

Sara Ruberg and Hank Sanders

Shifty Shellshock, the frontman of late-1990s rap-rock band Crazy Town, has died at the age of 49. The news was confirmed by his publicist, who did not disclose a cause of death.

Binzer, who was born Seth Brooks Binzer on August 23, 1974, rose to fame in 2001 with Crazy Town's hit song "Butterfly." The single reached the top 10 in several countries and helped the band's debut album, "The Gift of Game," go platinum.

Crazy Town released two more albums, "Darkhorse" in 2002 and "Crazy Town Is Back" in 2005, before going on hiatus in 2006. Binzer continued to perform and record music under his own name, and he also appeared on reality television shows such as "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" and "Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars."

Binzer's death is a loss to the music industry and to fans of Crazy Town's unique brand of rap-rock. He will be remembered for his energetic performances and his catchy songs.
